Apparently Govt of Punjab has approved the House Requisition summary for Govt Employees in Punjab that will increase the House Rent Allowance of Govt Employees all over Punjab. According to the information available, Cabinet Division has approved the proposal to increase the House Rent allowance for the Govt employees in Punjab. Within days, CM Punjab will approve the summary to increase the House Rent Allowance
According to official sources, the decision to increase the House Rent Allowance has been taken because of provincial government’s inability to allot official residences in Lahore to all its entitled employees.
There are nearly 3,000 houses in five GORs in the provincial metropolis for cabinet members, judges and senior bureaucrats, and two colonies, one in Wahdat Colony and another in Chauburji, for junior officials. Initially all provincial government employees were entitled to get houses in these GORs and colonies but the entitlement was curtailed to those of the Lahore Court, Punjab Assembly and Services and General Administration Department in 1999.
Sources informed that the house requisition policy was finalized in view of huge demands for official residences by the Govt employees in Punjab. Initially Govt of Punjab wanted to build more colonies to adjust maximum number of Govt Employees but later on, this idea was abandoned because of shortages of resources. Instead, it was decided to devise a policy of House Requisition. Now the committee has finished it work & presented the summary for the approval of CM Punjab. Committee has suggested to match the House Rent Allowance with those of Federal Govt.
The House Rent Allowance of federal Govt. as as under. The same will be adopted by Govt of Punjab.
